The Master Volume is planned for burial in New York City in 2030 and future opening in 2130. Its preparation and custody are being developed through documented procedures intended to protect the object, its contents, and the project’s non-commercial mission over time.

The Master Volume is the final physical form of CIBOOK. It is not a commercial edition, a book for sale, or a public-access publication before 2130.

Its production will be guided by preservation requirements for paper, photographs, printing, binding, storage, sealing, transfer, and long-term custody.

Content Integrity
CIBOOK does not retrospectively rewrite, update, or selectively revise the participant’s contribution. Technical formatting, reproduction, migration, conservation, or preservation may be used only where necessary to maintain legibility, integrity, and long-term survival. Such procedures do not alter the participant’s submitted meaning or historical record.

Chain of Custody
CIBOOK is developing documented procedures for the receipt of contributions, controlled preservation, preparation of the Master Volume, sealing, transfer, site stewardship, and future opening. The project will not publicly disclose technical or physical details that could compromise participant confidentiality or the security of the sealed record.

Succession
CIBOOK is designed so that its long-term purpose does not depend solely on DECA MEDIA or any individual. If DECA MEDIA can no longer perform its stewardship role before burial, responsibility is intended to transition through documented succession arrangements to a qualified institutional custodian or successor organization that accepts CIBOOK’s preservation, confidentiality, non-commercial, and opening-date commitments.

The 2030 Event
The planned 2030 burial depends on completion of the necessary production, conservation, legal, site, insurance, institutional-custody, and safety requirements. If any requirement cannot be responsibly completed by the planned date, the Master Volume will remain sealed under controlled stewardship until an appropriate arrangement is in place.
