How CIBOOK selects participants,
prepares the record, and plans for continuity.

CIBOOK’s methodology covers participant selection, contribution agreements, preservation procedures, the ten fields, and the operating path from 2025 to 2130.

Selection Standard

Chosen for lasting impact.

CIBOOK does not select participants based on popularity, social-media reach, or current media attention. Selection is based on demonstrated work that is expected to remain relevant, studied, or influential beyond the present moment.

Candidates are assessed within the context of their field, their body of work, and their contribution to society, culture, knowledge, or public life. The archive also seeks geographic, cultural, and disciplinary breadth so that no single region, profession, or tradition defines the record.

The question is not whether a person is visible today. The question is whether their work has created a durable mark.

Step 01
Research and Identification
CIBOOK identifies candidates through field research, institutional sources, peer recommendations, and ongoing review. Candidates do not apply for selection.
Step 02
Assessment
The team evaluates the candidate’s body of work, lasting impact, and contribution to the balance of the archive across fields, regions, and traditions.
Step 03
Invitation
Selected candidates receive a private invitation explaining the purpose of CIBOOK, the nature of the contribution, and the participant’s rights. Participation is entirely voluntary.
Step 04
Agreement
Participants enter into a written agreement addressing intellectual property, use of name and likeness, withdrawal, confidentiality, data protection, preservation, and long-term custody.
Step 05
Contribution and Preservation
The participant provides a portrait and written message containing a prediction. CIBOOK then applies its controlled procedures for preservation, production preparation, and eventual inclusion in the Master Volume.

CIBOOK is organized across ten fields to reflect different forms of human contribution. Each field has a defined capacity within the total archive.

Timeline

A long-term cultural project,
developed in stages.

2025
Foundation
CIBOOK is established by DECA MEDIA LLC. The initial participation framework, operating processes, and early preservation planning are developed.
2026–2029
Participant Development
CIBOOK continues research, invitations, participant coordination, institutional outreach, preservation planning, and fundraising for the project’s long-term requirements.
2030
Master Volume and Burial
CIBOOK plans to finalize the physical Master Volume, complete the required custodial and site arrangements, and hold the burial event in New York City. The participant withdrawal period closes when final production begins, subject to the terms of each participation agreement.
2030–2130
Institutional Custody
The sealed Master Volume is intended to remain under documented custody and preservation arrangements until the planned opening date. Technical and institutional continuity procedures remain in place throughout this period.
2130
Opening
CIBOOK is planned to be opened and made available as a cultural record of the perspectives preserved in the volume.
